# How Lush moved from paper invoices to nearly 90% touchless processing

[Lush](https://www.medius.com/resources/case-studies/lush-ap-automation/ "Lush AP Automation"), a global cosmetics retailer, struggled with a paper-based accounts payable process that slowed month-end close as the company grew.

By **integrating Medius [accounts payable automation with Microsoft Dynamics AX](https://www.medius.com/solutions/for-your-erp/microsoft-dynamics/ "Microsoft Dynamics")**, Lush digitized its invoice processing and approval tracking. This provided the AP team with full visibility into invoice status and gave managers and auditors direct access to a complete digital audit trail.

In this video, Lush’s accounts payable manager explains how they streamlined approvals and **increased their touchless invoice processing from 57% to nearly 90%**.

I am the accounts payable manager at Lush. We're in the retail industry, supplying bath bombs and cosmetics. We also in our division, so we manufacture everything that we sell our stores. Medius has been really important in for me to be able to do my job.

It really helps us define kinda like what our focus should be. We used to be super duper paper based. And, you know, like, come around month end. We're scrambling around because invoices are lost.

We're having to track each manager for the piles of invoices that we have given them. In terms of even, like, you know, the month ends, we're able to accrue it more properly. We're able to track the invoices where it's at, by use of the, you know, historical audit trail. And even right now, we're actually having a year end audit.

So it really helps our outside auditors. Like, we basically just give them access to our system. And they can go in there, you know, like figure out where the invoices are. Gone are the days where we're having to go to the cabinets and pull invoices.

Also for the managers, when they see all invoices, where the invoices are, they can see when it was sent to them, what's missing and so on. When I started with the company, almost two years ago now, I think we were at fifty seven percent touchless [processing]. We've worked a lot with, Erik from Medius in terms of really increasing that. My target is anywhere between ninety two to ninety five percent. I think in the last few months, we're averaging anywhere between eighty five eighty six to probably ninety percent. For LUSH, we're projecting an increase in our business.

We wanted to grow our stores into another hundred in the next, three years. And so we figure that if we're gonna do that, workload is going to increase as well, and we simply cannot afford to be doing all of that manual work. So we needed to put in, you know, like some focus on the touchless piece. A lot of the reasons for being touchless is due to our own internal processes.

There's a gap in own processes. So it's really helped us address those gaps as well. And for the team, like, when I say that, yeah, we're at ninety percent this week, it's really a boost their morale well. So they can kind of see where we're headed that, you know, these things that, we're setting up as goals are very much achievable.
