Medius answers: "We already do procurement in our ERP."
A fair answer to a fair question. Most finance teams already have a PO module. They also have a stack of invoices every month that never went near it. Medius Procurement and Medius AP Automation, when working together, bridge that gap and deliver next-level spend control back to your business than either can provide alone.
Your ERP was built for a different kind of spend.
ERP purchasing was developed around direct spend: known parts, known suppliers and repeat quantities. Indirect spend is different. It’s spread across many suppliers, mostly one-off, and bought by people in marketing, facilities, IT and operations who don’t work in the ERP and never will.
- 29% of indirect spend sits outside approved contracts.
- 18.4% is the average invoice exception rate, and much of it is created upstream before the invoice reaches AP.
- 68.9% average touchless rate on PO-backed invoices across Medius customers. The best performers reach 96.3%.

Start with one number.
What percentage of your invoices arrive without a PO today?
An invoice with a matched PO can process without anyone touching it. An invoice without a PO can’t, because there’s nothing to match it against. So the share of invoices that arrive PO-backed sets a ceiling on your straight-through processing rate. That number is your headroom.
What changes when purchasing moves upstream.
Buying the way people want to. A searchable catalog of approved items, punchout to your suppliers’ own shops and forms your team configures for services and one-off purchases. Buying policy travels with the purchase.
Fewer approvals, not just faster ones. When a requester’s own approval limit covers their coded lines, the requisition is approved on creation. When approval is needed, everyone assigned gets it at once and handles only their own lines.
Budgets enforced before the money is spent. Choose a hard stop at checkout or a soft warning that routes for extra approval. Set it per budget type and keep it current in real time.
What doesn't change
Your AP process stays as it is: the approval rules, the interfaces your team works in and the way exceptions get handled. Your ERP stays too. Medius Connect already carries master data between your ERP and Medius AP Automation. Procurement runs on that same layer, and your ERP keeps receiving the posting the way it does today.
Who Medius Procurement is for
Medius Procurement is built for finance and AP leaders who already have an ERP PO module and still see invoices arriving without a PO. If your indirect spend lives in email threads and side channels, this is for you.
Four outcomes your CFO can take to the board.
Savings you can measure
Indirect spend drops 15 to 20% when you buy from contract.
Less maverick buying
A 59% reduction, with policy applied at the point of request.
More touchless AP
PO-backed invoices can run touchless, up to 96.3% for the best performers.
No rework
Your AP process and your ERP stay as they are.
